IFTA is India’s 1st people’s Choice Awards, with an aim to acknowledge and acclaim the versatile talent in the Indian Film, Television, OTT and Music industries.
Team IFTA believes that there is no better judge than the audience. So IFTA gave the voting rights to the ultimate consumers of the content – the viewers. There is no jury or panel involved in making the decision for the winner.
IFTA has a dedicated market research team that works diligently to find the potential list of nominees who then compete to win the particular category. Spread across various categories, the IFTA market research team makes nomination lists based on primary & secondary market research and analysis. These lists are then made public for the audience to vote. The Nominee getting the highest number of votes wins that particular award category.
A fresh face equals a rising star
With infinite talents standing in long queues waiting to give that one audition that lands them on the ultimate film set is surely a dream. A dream that can only be seen wideeyed, as the struggle won’t let that talent sleep, but very few could finally make it to their final destination.
Hence, it is of utmost importance to applaud the new entrants into the industry. When IFTA applauds the new faces, it also gives hope to those who are still standing in long lines and waiting for their spot to fame.
Turn that Spotlight on to the Winner…
This is a boy who has had a long body of work on television. He appeared in multiple dance shows and reality shows, soap operas just to make it big in films. Ironically, big can be an understatement to finally land a role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, where everything is magnum-opus. With 2138 public votes, Shantanu Maheshwari’s portrayal of a young teenage tailor ‘Afsaan’ in Gangubai Kathiawadi, stole the spotlight on IFTA’s Most Popular Bollywood Star Debut result list.
On number two is a super talented singer, who gave some amazing chartbuster songs, and now carrying his legacy in the films. Harrdy Sandhu acquires spot two for his portrayal of Madan Lal in Kabir Khan’s 83.
Next up on the list is a name who had a lot of pressure to create the same magic that his father had created. Not just he made his presence felt but also carved a niche for himself. Ahan Shetty scores third spot for portraying Ishana with brilliance in the film Tadap.
Some Honourable Mentions
On number four is Pratik Gandhi. The Scam 1992 star also made an impression on the big screen after portraying Rajaram Joshi in the film Bhavai. Geet Sagar attains the fifth position for his brilliant performance in 14 Phere.
Naren Kumar also made it on the list for his exceptional performance in the musical film 99 Songs. Amaan Iqbal also made his debut special in The Kashmir Files and secured a position in IFTA 2021-22 list.
