IFTA is India’s 1st people’s Choice Awards, with an aim to acknowledge and acclaim the versatile talent in the Indian Film, Television, OTT and Music industries.
Team IFTA believes that there is no better judge than the audience. So IFTA gave the voting rights to the ultimate consumers of the content – the viewers. There is no jury or panel involved in making the decision for the winner.
IFTAhas a dedicated market research team that works diligently to find the potential list of nominees who then compete to win the particular category. Spread across various categories, the IFTA market research team makes nomination lists based on primary & secondary market research and analysis. These lists are then made public for the audience to vote. The Nominee getting the highest number of votes wins that particular award category.
About the Award Category
In the fast-paced world today people want more information in less time. We have seen how one-minute reels can also be so informative. Avid movie viewers, sometimes crave for short films that entertain them in the same way as a feature film but in a lesser time. Short Films come into the picture, when an unusual and a unique story is to be told in less than forty- five minutes. Forty-five minutes is the standard that most industries follow.
Short films are also the best way for budding actors, writers, and directors to begin their careers as they can showcase their creative best and potential prowess in a very short run time of a film. Yes, the pressure to deliver a good story in a lesser time is there but those who ace this quality, ultimately makes it big in the industry.
The Short Film that stood out is……..
With 716 votes from the public and a stellar cast including Shaheer Sheikh and Shweta Basu Prasad, Amazon Mini TV’s short film Yatri Kripya Dhyan De wins the award for Most Popular Short Film 2021-22. The turn of the events in the film are ultimately engaging and one will have a solid jump scare by the end. Written and directed by Abhinav Singh, this film is both visually and textually beautiful.
The second spot is taken by Blind Love 2 with 604 votes. The film is streaming on YouTube and stars Aalisha Panwar and Shagun Pandey. The film successfully transports you to a romance genre and the twists keep you engaged.
The third spot is acquired by Amazon Mini TV’s short – Shimmy with 201 votes starring Pratik Gandhi and Chahat Tewani. The film is high on performance, especially by Chahat, who plays Raima in the film. The film successfully creates a father-daughter bond and showcase, what it takes to raise a girl child by a single male parent. The film has very solid writing and messaging.
Some Honourable Mentions
The next spot is attained by Esha Deol starrer Ek Dua. This film got a lot of critical acclaim and had travelled to multiple film festivals.
Other runner-ups include Gupt Gyaan on Amazon Mini TV, Sheer Qorma on Amazon Prime Video and Jahaan on Amazon Mini TV.
