IFTA is India’s 1st people’s Choice Awards, with an aim to acknowledge and acclaim the versatile talent in the Indian Film, Television, OTT and Music industries.
Team IFTA believes that there is no better judge than the audience. So IFTA gave the voting rights to the ultimate consumers of the content – the viewers. There is no jury or panel involved in making the decision for the winner.
IFTA has a dedicated market research team that works diligently to find the potential list of nominees who then compete to win the particular category. Spread across various categories, the IFTA market research team makes nomination lists based on primary & secondary market research and analysis. These lists are then made public for the audience to vote. The Nominee getting the highest number of votes wins that particular award category.
News and television
News has always been the most consumed content on television. With the uncountable number of channels and news shows available, it is hard to find one show where the news is true to the facts and is wholesome.
Furthermore, news channels nowadays are becoming extra cautious to maintain the timeliness of a particular news post, so that it can be prevented from circulating exclusively on social media. For updates regarding current affairs, still a lot of people rely on TV news channels rather than social media. That is why, it becomes the responsibility of these news channels to bring the true facts out in public within a time frame.
And the Winner is…..
With a total of 761 votes, Aaj Tak’s popular debate show Halla Bol wins the award for the Most Popular TV News Show. This show is primarily hosted by Anjana Om Kashyap who opens the show with a piece of political news and further includes representatives from different political parties to debate over that day’s topic. The show gives the viewers a wholesome experience of the news bit. Additionally, viewers get to understand the different opinions of the panellists who engage in this news debate.
At number two is Dangal with 688 votes, which is another News show from Aaj Tak. Unlike Halla Bol, Dangal focuses on different types of news that could cover war, human stories, entertainment controversies, and so on. This show is mostly presented by Sweta Singh. The remaining format is the same as Halla Bol. The show gets representatives from different political parties on the panel, who hold expertise in that particular news genre to engage in a healthy debate.
Some honourable mentions
At number four is Zee News’ DNA – Daily News And Analysis with 500 votes. This show has a very unique format that the viewers love watching, as it covers different types of news bits tightly packed in an hour-long episode. People also love watching a trivia section at the end of each episode.
India TV’s Aaj Ki Baat with Rajat Sharma attains the next spot with 431 votes. The shows that follow include Poochta Hai Bharat from Republic Bharat and Superfast 200 by India TV.
